Assistants

Stefanos Katsoulis (2014-ongoing)

Stefanos Katsoulis is currently a PhD student at the University of Macedonia (Thessaloniki, Greece) in the field of International Trade Law and International Economic Organizations. At the same time, he is a senior student at the Faculty of Law of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. So far, he holds an MA in International Economic Relations and a BA in International and European Economic Studies of the University of Macedonia.

His research interests focus on regional trade relations; free trade agreements and customs unions; implementation of international trade law; comparative approaches towards bilateral trade agreements and their legal framework, as well as international human rights protection and cultural issues.

He is also very actively involved in the civil society sector, serving as the President of Thessaloniki Youth Club for UNESCO. Moreover, he is an assistant to the Chief Academic Officer of “Thessaloniki International Student Model United Nations” (ThessISMUN), organized at the University of Macedonia. Last but not least, he speaks English fluently, while he has a good command of the German and French languages.

Previous experiences and volunteering:

Research Intern at the University of Groningen (May 1st 2023 – October 4th 2023). Did  research at the faculty of law with academic staff who specialize on Technology law. I am currently conducting a research with Dr. Jonida Weishaar, who is part of STeP research group (Security, Technology and e-Privacy)

Set up a community and worked on organizing aid for the victims of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria of February 2023 Worked with +20 students with different educational background on organizing a donation and gathering material help for the victims. I personally worked on communication with different non-governmental organizations and public institutions.

He is also working on opening an association for Groningen Turkish Student Community with the help of students from different faculties.

Decentralized student association, chair of marketing committee (2022 October – 2023 July). Decentralized student association, co-editor of Virtualis under the editorial committee.

Styliani Christoforidou

Styliani Christoforidou is a member of the Bar Association of Thessaloniki. She holds a B.A. in Legal Studies from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, as well as an LL.M. in Public Law from the same university.

She participated in the IXth World Congress of Constitutional Law on Constitutional Challenges: Global and Local of the International Association of Constitutional Law, with topic ‘David and Goliath: The citizen’s position towards the constitutionally entrenched institutions of representation’, published in the web proceedings of the Congress, https://www.jus.uio.no, and republished in the Revista Jurídica Piélagus (USCO), Vol. 12, N° 1, pp. 35 -45. She also participated in the 5th International Conference on E-Democracy: security, privacy and trust in a digital world of the HSCIS, on ‘Online Public Consultation: Citizens’ Political Participation through the Internet’.

She translated, on behalf of the Jean Monnet Chair for European Constitutional Law and Culture, the book of the Professor Sp. Flogaitis ‘The Evolution of Law and the State in Europe, Seven Lessons’ into Greek.

She is interested in new political forms of participation, as well as in constitutional law and tax law and she speaks four foreign languages, English, French, Italian and Chinese (mandarin).

 

Dafni Lima

Dafni Lima is an attorney at law and member of the Thessaloniki Bar. She has completed undergraduate studies in law in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (LL.B.), graduating cum laude. She holds a Master in Criminal Law and Criminology (LL.M.) cum laude from the same university, for which she submitted a first class thesis on Hate Crime. She also holds an LL.M. from the University of Cambridge, for which she submitted a first class thesis in Comparative Family Law and Policy on the topic of civil unions in France and Greece. She has also attended a one-month intensive subject course on “Law, Society and Politics in Comparative Perspective” at the Freie Universität Berlin. She is currently a Trainee in the Data Protection Office, Director’s Office, at the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (CEDEFOP).

As an undergraduate and postgraduate student she participated in moot court competitions, notably the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition and the ICLN International Criminal Court Trial Competition, in teams that in both cases reached the Semi-finals in the international rounds. She has been an editor in the Journal “Dikaiopolis” of the AUTH Law School Student Union and an Editor in the Cambridge Journal of International and Comparative Law. She was member of the AUTH research project “A Cohesive Model to Counteract Financial Crime and Corruption in the Public Sector in Greece” as a graduate student-researcher. She has undertaken pro bono legal work extensively, including working with the Cambridge University Student Advocates International Reprieve Research Panel on human rights and criminal law cases. She has also worked as a research partner with the Open Society Justice Initiative on immigrant and refugee law as well as criminal and administrative law. She has been awarded numerous awards and distinctions, including a graduate research assistantship by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and scholarships from the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) and the Onassis Foundation. Apart from Greek, she is fluent in English, German and French, and has basic knowledge of Chinese and Spanish.

Her academic interests include: Criminal Law, Comparative Family Law, Philosophy of Criminal Law, European Criminal Law, International Criminal Law, EU Law, International Law, Human Rights and Civil Liberties, Legal and Political Philosophy, Immigrant and Refugee Law.

For the time being, he is a research assistant to the “UNESCO Chair in Intercultural Policy” of the University of Macedonia, as well as a research and teaching assistant of the “Jean Monnet Chair for European Constitutional Law and Culture”, of the Faculty of Law of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His research interests focus on the legal framework of the regional trade agreements; the international trade law; the law of the international organizations, as well as the international protection of human rights and UNESCO issues.

Moreover, he is an administrative assistant of the Organizing Committee of “Thessaloniki International Student Model United Nations” (ThessISMUN) since 2010. He is also actively involved in the civil society sector, serving as the President of Thessaloniki Youth Club for UNESCO.

Last but not least, he speaks English fluently, while he has a good command of the German and French languages.

Academic Year 2013-2014

Georgios Georgopoulos

 Georgios N. Georgopoulos was introduced in the Law School of Aristotle University in 2004 and graduated in 2009 with “EXCELLENT”, final grade 8, 56/10 (classified 4th out of 142 graduates at 27.04.2009). From 2009 – to 2012 he realized his first post-graduate studied at Sector of Public Law & Political Science of Law School of Aristotle University having Constitutional Law as main course where he also supported his dissertation “Greek consolidation programmes (memoranda) between constitutional purposes and European limits”. He graduated with “EXCELLENT”, final grade 9,09/10. In September 2012 he was introduced after examination in the Interdepartmental Post-Graduate Course “Modern medical acts: Legal regulation and Bioethical Dimension”, which is held by Medical School, Law School and Theology School of Aristotle University. He is already at the phase of preparing his dissertation paper.

Since 2013 he is PhD Candidate in Law School of Aristotle University within the field of Constitutional Law having as subject of his thesis “European Integration between economic data and democratic principles. Their influence on the content and normative context of national Constitutions”.

He also realized studies during 2011-2012 at the Université Libre de Bruxelles where he attended courses of Constitutional and European Law within the Erasmus/LLP Programme during his post-graduate studies. He has also attended summer schools in European universities such as the one University of Montpellier France in summer 2010 with main subject the national sovereignty within the construction of Europe. He has also participated as guest speaker in many conferences discussing various legal aspects.

Since January 2011 he is member of Thessaloniki Bar Association and he is practising the legal profession ever since. During the past few years he is participating in the academic activities of Public Law & Political Science Sector of Law School with supportive courses and supervision during the examinations. During the current academic year he is teaching assistant at the courses of European Constitutional Law and European Protection of Human Rights in English and Greek Language. In parallel, he is co-operating as tutor with private schools of university education teaching Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Profound Courses of Public Law and European Law.

Among his interests is rhetorical speech (debating) and he has participated both as speaker and judge in national school and university contests receiving various awards. His mother tongue is Greek, he is a proficient user of English, French, Italian and Spanish Language and he is also learning Russian Language.

Xenofon Kontargyris


Xenofon Kontargyris
graduated from the law school of Aristoteleion University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 2007. Immediately after, he completed a postgraduate study in International and Comparative Law in Vrije Universiteit Brussel. He is currently a PhD candidate in the school of Law of Aristoteleion University of Thessaloniki with the project: Review of the EU legal framework on data management and  cloud computing services.

He is currently working as a research and teaching assistant in Aristoteleion University of Thessaloniki in the school of Law. More specifically, he is a teaching assistant in European Constitutional  Law and an online open courses editor in European Constitutional Law in English and also in Greek and Roman Law in Greek and German. Moreover, he is currently working as an attorney at Law being inscribed at The Thessaloniki Bar. In the past, he has worked as an assistant in the Legal Affairs Department of the Hellenic Army/NATO DC-GR and as Communications Officer, Service Manager and Trainer in the European Commission, DG INSFO in Brussels. His mother tongue is Greek but he is also a fluent English, French and German speaker. He also speaks Italian.

Dimitrios Nikiforos


Dimitrios Nikiforos
graduated from the law school of Aristoteleion University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 2010. Immediately after, he completed a postgraduate study in Public Law and Political Science especially in Constitutional Law. He has been recently honored with the Fulbright Scholarship, U.S. Department, Harry D. Triantafillu Scholarship Fund Award and and he is currently a candidate for LL.M. in Legal Theory, in New York university school of Law.

He has worked as an attorney at “Efthidikia”  law firm in Thessaloniki being a member of Kavala Bar Association, Greece, as a research and teaching Assistant  in the courses of: Modern Greek Constitutional History, Modern Political & Constitutional History of Greece, Comparative Law and in Constitutional Law, European Constitutional Law and Comparative Constitutional Law.

He has contributed in Aristoteleion University of Thessaloniki doing Research Assistantship and Technical Support for the creation of a digital Constitutional Law course. His mother tongue is Greek but he is a ffluent English speaker, as well. He can also speak German.

Emmanouil Kalaintzis (Ac. years 2013-15)

While working as a trainee, Emmanouil (Manos) Kalaintzis was a postgraduate student at the International Hellenic University and a graduate of the Faculty of Law of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He currently serves as an Assistant of UNESCO Chair in Intercultural Policy for an Active Citizenship and Solidarity of the University of Macedonia, as well as an intern at the Jean Monnet Chair for European Constitutional Law and Culture.

He is an active member of the civic society volunteering for the Amnesty International Department of Thessaloniki; the Thessaloniki European Youth Capital 2014, and Thessaloniki Youth Club for UNESCO, where he has holds the position of the Vice-President of the Executive Board. Aditionally, he speaks English fluently, while he is an independent user of German.

 

Victoria Kalogeratou (Ac. years 2013-15)

While working as a trainee, Victoria Kalogeratou was a post-graduate student of Aristoteleion University of Thessaloniki, in the faculty of Law. She has also graduated from Vasilis Diamantopoulos drama school, where she studied with a state scholarship.

She is currently working as an intern in Jean Monnet Chair at Aristoteleion University of Thessaloniki. Her mother tongue is Greek, but she is also a fluent English and Russian speaker. She can also speak Italian.

 

Stefania Stoikou (Ac. year 2014-15)

While working as a trainee, Stefania Stoikou was an undergraduate student at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in the Faculty of Law.

She worked as Intern for the UNESCO Chair of Intercultural Policy of the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki. Moreover she served as Member of the Board of ELSA Thessaloniki in the position of the Vice President for Seminars and Conferences. Also, she participated as a representative of ELSA (the European Law Students’ Association) to the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL ), 46th Session, which took place in Vienna.

Additionally, she participated in Model United Nations in Greece and abroad and held the position of the Secretary General of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe at ThessISMUN 2013 of the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki. Furthermore, she was National Researcher of ELSA International Legal Research Group “1 in 5” «Stop sexual abuse against children», in collaboration with the Council of Europe.

Her mother tongue is Greek, but she is a fluent English and French speaker, as well.

Kateryna Ianishevska (Academic Year 2013-2014)

When served as a trainee, Kateryna Ianishevska was a PhD candidate in the school of Law of Aristoteleion University of Thessaloniki. She had graduated from Odessa National University of the faculty of Law and Economics in 2012. She has worked in the past in Ukraine as an intern and editor in Pravotoday Web-Portal for CIS Lawyers and also as a junior associate in AstapovLawyers International Law Group firm in Ukraine. Her mother tongue is Ukrainian and she can speak Russian and English as well.
